Food inflation is having a negative impact on the lives of two-thirds of Canadians this year, according to Statistics Canada. Some people say they can barely afford to feed their families. Enter a very special app, which is also a positive story about the power of AI. Created in tandem with Dentsu, Skip Express Lane is an online grocery store that uses an algorithm to track the prices of 400 of the most common ingredients, across every shopping site. Then it places the lowest-price items in the user’s brand-neutral cart. But the app goes a step further, by proposing AI-driven recipes that can be created from the ingredients, based on the advice of nutritionists. As a result, people can outsmart inflation and eat healthily. The application won at Cannes and the recent LIA awards.
