While in the world's most censored countries many news websites and blogs are blocked, music streaming platforms such as Spotify, Deezer and Apple Music are freely accessible. This online loophole was used to evade censorship. Five acclaimed journalists from five repressed countries became music artists: their censored articles were turned into pop songs and uploaded onto music streaming platforms. On March 12, World Day Against Cyber Censorship, all the songs came together as The Uncensored Playlist.

A project created for Reporters Without Borders Germany wo found a way to evade press censorship by turning journalists into musicians. Ten previously censored articles by five journalists are now uncensored songs, uploaded onto music streaming sites that are freely available in the countries where press freedom is not.
