I was on the staff of The Independent since 1996 in various capacities including Media & Culture Correspondent and Home Affairs Editor.

Media Editor of The Independent, the i newspaper, the Independent on Sunday and independent.co.uk (3.3 million daily uniques). I wrote on media issues for the news, comment and leader pages of the paper and our online comment platform Independent Voices.
I also wrote a weekly Media Column for The Independent (published on Mondays) and for the i paper.

As Assistant Editor of The Independent, I produced major feature articles on cultural and social issues for the features pages and produce media and arts features for the paper's Saturday magazine, the Radar arts supplement, the i newspaper and for the Independent on Sunday's New Review magazine.

I have appeared as a media commentator on CNN worldwide, the BBC, Sky News, and Al Jazeera TV networks, and on radio for BBC Radio 4, including as a regular host of What The Papers Say. I have also contributed frequently on LBC and Monocle 24's weekly show The Media Briefing.

The Independent's publisher has its own television channel, London Live, the first bespoke TV network for the UK's capital, to which I have also contributed.

I produced several media features and interviews for GQ magazine (UK).

Covering the Home Office and its related subjects, such as the Criminal Justice System, Policing, Immigration, Drugs policy, Prisons, Youth Offending.
