Jakob Marky

Jakob Marky

Born in Gothenburg, this half-Swedish, half-Hungarian aristocrat went all the way to Australia to earn his stripes in the film industry.

Having spent his first 5 years directing as a part of the directors collective A.C.N.E. Jakob moved on to Academy Films in London, where he picked up a D&AD Pencil and 2 Cannes Lions for his ground-breaking social media/Facebook activity for Skittles.
The follow-up campaign was a huge hit too with the launch of the new blue coloured Skittle winning another 2 Cannes Lions.

After stirring up dust in Scandinavia with films for TRYG, Nordea and IKEA, Jakob topped 2012 with winning the "Ingmar Bergman Award" for best screenplay for his film "Fuga", an achievement that allowed him to spend time writing in the old master’s writer’s den. The film is currently in preproduction. 

Ada Bligaard Søby

Ada Bligaard Søby

Ada was born in Denmark in 1975 and grew up in a community of historians in a 16th century renaissance castle north of Copenhagen. She moved to New York at age twenty to study at School of Visual Arts but ended up waitressing in nightclubs instead.

Later she assisted fashion photographer Terry Richardson around the time when he was making the ‘Terryworld’ book and made motorcycle trips around the US with her camera and boyfriend.

After four years as an illegal immigrant in New York City she moved back to Denmark and became a member of the Copenhagen based filmmaker collective Super 16. Ada is a self taught filmmaker and and has shot documentaries for Nordic and International broadcasters in the US, China, Russia, Singapore, Finland and England. 

Tobias Boesen

Tobias graduated with a BFA in Character Animation from The Animation Workshop in 2010. His graduation film ‘Out Of A Forest’ won multiple awards at festivals and launched a career in animation. He then went on to study live-action filmmaking at the alternative danish film school Super16, where he is currently finishing his degree, while working as a commercial director in the crossfield between live action, animation and artwork.
Adam Bonke

Adam Bonke

Adam Bonke's career began in London's Soho where he delved into editing and compositing before finding his calling as a director. Citing youthful exuberance he unabashedly informed two producer friends that he wanted to direct. They eventually gave him the chance with Interruption, which ultimately garnered one of the most coveted prizes awarded to new directors and launched his career.

Today he is widely known for creating beautiful images and stories that touch audiences. Music plays a starring role in Adam's process—he often collaborates with his brother to compose soundtracks for his brand-based work. 

Jeppe Rønde

Jeppe Rønde

Jeppe was born in Aarhus, Denmark and worked as a professional musician until he graduated in Film Science and Art History from the university of Copenhagen. He had his feature debut in 2003 with "Jerusalem My Love", which won numerous international awards. With his second feature length film, "The Swenkas" he won Best International director at Toronto, a Robert (Danish Oscar) and a European Oscar nomination among others.

After that Rønde directed a critically acclaimed 8 episodes TV-series for the national Danish Broadcasting Union (Danish BBC) called “The Quatraro Mystery”.

Rønde was voted best commercial director in Denmark 2010, and in 2013 he won two Cannes Lions, gold and bronze for direction and cinematography. 

Matias & Mathias

Matias & Mathias met in high-school where they immediately became friends. With a common interest in skateboarding and movies they combined the two and started making skate-videos. That was the beginning of the duo´s career and they have ever since been working together as a team. They joined Bacon 1 year ago and are now combining commercial-work with developing a feature-project funded with The Norwegian Filminstitute as well as having a shortfilm in production.

Sara is a critically acclaimed director and screenwriter and one of the best comedy directors in Sweden today. In her long and varied career she has combined television, radio and film. Sara’s directing skills are detailed storytelling with an exquisite timing and fierce and undoubtable humor. Her work always comes across as uncomplicated and very funny in a smart and natural way. With her originality, brilliant mind and attention to detail she has the ability to get the most out of every actor and every script. Sara loves animals and fast cars and you might see her cruising through Stockholm in her white Porsche with her adopted police dog (retired) riding shotgun.

Oliver Knauer

Oliver is a Danish photographer and director, working in the intersection of commercial and artistic film making.

He started his career studying photography at Copenhagen Technical College, and later developed himself as a videographer, working fulltime with Mario Testino in London.

He is known for his visually compelling compositions, combined with storytelling. Returning from London, Oliver continues to work on projects and initiatives around the world 

Martin Werner

Martin Werner

Martin Werner is one of Scandinavia’s most awarded and highly sought after directors. He started his career in film as a 1st AD, moving into directing in 1994 and quickly became one of the most respected and loved directors in Denmark.

After setting up the now world-renowned Bacon Films in 2001, he started to shoot more international work, picking up awards in the US and across Europe. Awarded work includes commercials for Coca Cola, Audi, Carlsberg, Café Noir and most recently his Jack & Jones campaign starring Christopher Walken.

Tomas Mankovsky

Tomas Mankovsky studied Advertising and Design at Beckmans College in Stockholm and his 2004 exam project, the short film Little Big Love, went on to win numerous awards including one at Stockholm Film Festival and earning him the Young Swedish Design Scholarship and the new talent Chicken Scholarship at the Swedish Golden Eggs. Upon graduating Tomas was offered a job at Fallon in London and moved to work professionally in advertising. During his time as a creative Tomas worked on some of the most creatively acclaimed ad campaigns for Sony, Orange, Cadbury and BBC earning him over 25 coveted advertising awards from Cannes, D&AD, Clios, Epica, BTAA and the Creative Circle. In 2008 he was named a Creative Futures by Creative Review as well as a Young Gun by the Art Directors Club in New York. While working at Fallon Tomas shot the short film Sorry I'm Late, which became a viral success and ultimately led him back to directing. Mankovsky's desire to work closely with ideas and the whole creative process made him jump ship and join production company Blink in 2009. Over the course of his 6-year directing career, Mankovsky has created an impressive and eclectic body of work including commercials, music videos and short films. He has helmed spots for clients such as IKEA, Diesel, H&M, Cadbury, Nissan, O2, Infiniti, Telia and E-on. Recently, Tomas directed a beautiful one shot film for TAC with Clemenger BBDO in Melbourne. He also helmed projects for the British lifeboat organization RNLI with Leo Burnett London and UEFA Champions League idents for Playstation with 180 Amsterdam. Mankovsky's most recent short film Grace has just been released and will be screened at film festivals in 2015/2016. Tomas lives in east London with his wife and daughter.

Magnus Millang

Magnus Millang, born in 1981, is a director, scriptwriter and well-known Danish comedian. He got his real break-through 2012 with the Danish comedy-series "Danish Dynamite" which he both wrote, directed as well as was acting in and has since then become one of the most successful Danish comedy-assets, both off- as well as on screen. Magnus´ exquisite timing and huge interest in comic- but at the same time natural details make him tell funny stories in an understated and super refined way.

Ordinary People

Ordinary People is a collective of directors founded in 2015 with a desire to be liberated from a strictly personal approach, a collective that enters projects on a more theoretical and analytical level. Under the mantra of always letting the project and the concept at hand define their stylistic choices, the collective seeks to be flexible, conceptual and always alert to how their films fit into and become part of the zeitgeist. They are as they call themselves genre-fluid.

Adam Hashemi

Adam was born in Copenhagen in 1978. He started his filmmaking career during high school education by making small films & art projects.

Adams own significant tone of voice as filmmaker put him on the top shelf of directors in Scandinavia in a split second, and within the last year, to the top of the UK and US markets as well. this has lead to several acclaimed collaborations with top agencies, such as Wieden+Kennedy, and has gotten to display his work on big arenas, such as the superbowl.

At the moment, Adam is developing on a feature film in los angeles with screen writer Andrew Kevin Walker (Se7en, Fight Club) through mutual reps, Creative Artists Agency. He continues to direct commercials globally.

Among other awards, Adam won D&AD's Yellow Pencil for best director in 2011. 

Raf Wathion

Raf Wathion

Director Raf Wathion (°1966) studied animation at the SHIVKV in Genk, Belgium. He started out making eye catching and original idents (both as an animator and director) for Belgian TV shows and channels. In 1988 he took his first steps directing commercials and quickly became a valued member of the Belgian commercial scene. From the very beginning he chose to focus on graphically strong, visual work, winning him a CCB silver award for his remarkable public service film ‘Sleeping Pills’. In 2000, Raf combined this passion for music and visuals, and went on directing pop promo’s. He, very soon, found himself working for major Belgian Bands and labels (Millionaire, Praga Khan, Hooverphonic, Ozark Henry, Zita Swoon, Buscemi Massis,,... ). In 2005, after taking a year out to make a trip around the world, he was launched on the US market and has since worked for several international clients, delivering high standard visual work. In 2008, he decided to join Czar. The stunning stop motion commercial he did for Electrabel won him the APPE award for best European spot and the Best Direction award at the 2009 CCB awards (Creative Club of Belgium). In 2011 Raf won another CCB award for Best Direction with the ‘Crash’ campaign for Samsonite. In 2013 he directed an animated short DAY_6001 which premiered at Leuven International Short Film Festival. Right after ‘Milk a force of Nature’, a CGI animated spot won on several awards in 2014. His no-nonsense and down-to-earth attitude, combined with his experience and always keeping an open mind to new ideas and techniques, makes Raf a more than valued Belgian director.

Born into a family of Academia, Tomas was raised to question and to wonder - it was the gift of this wondering mind that turned his interest from music to photography, to director.
In 1997 Tomas began working as a directors assistant and the desire to further grow his knowledge and aesthetic eye led later to a job as a Photographer´s assistant.
After 3 years of assisting, Tomas began shooting advertising and editorial for hire.
2001 was the year when Tomas for real started to work as a director and he has since then become one of the most successful and awarded ones in Sweden.
He has several prestigious awards on his CV, among others a Bronze in Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, several gold awards in Epica and Eurobest and he also has been voted as the most successful commercial director in Scandinavia. 

Andreas J. Riiser

Andreas J. Riiser

Andreas has directed more than 60 commercial films in his career for clients such as VW, Lotto and NetCom. He studied at the European Film College in Denmark as well as the Norwegian Film School.

Outside of his commercial work, Andreas has been involved in many TV productions for NRK (the Norwegian BBC), amongst them the successful "Skavlan", and numerous humor VBs and vignettes. He has also shot six short films, which have been featured at international festivals such as Clermont-Ferrand, Nordic Panorama, Paris-, Beijing- and Moscow International Short film festivals.

During his studies at the Film Academy in Holland, Bart started working as a video assistant to Thed Lenssen.

From moving cables, working as a production assistant and doing video assist, Bart quickly started to direct commercials. Bart’s professional growth to leading commercial director went hand in hand with the development of the most talked-about creative teams of The Netherlands.

Bart’s strength in his storytelling is his extreme attention to detail, his timing and his humor. This, combined with a big talent for directing actors, makes him one of the best directors that The Netherlands have to offer. 

Andreas Nilsson

Andreas Nilsson

Andreas is a director noted for his dark, surreal and playful style, producing a consistently inspiring body of work. Having grown up in deep in the Swedish countryside, Andreas moved to Gothenburg to study the noble arts of painting and sculpture and that together with his immense music interest led later to that he directed a music video for a friend´s band and he hasn´t stopped since.

Andreas has created dazzling videos for major artists ranging from Royksöpp and Peter, Björn and John , Jose Gonzales to Kanye West, David Guetta and Robbie Williams.

His latest spot for Volvo Truck ft Jean-Claude Van Damme "The Epic Split" is one of the world´s most successful viral campaigns ever. 

Lasse Martinussen

Lasse Martinussen started out his career and his filmic upbringing at Lars Von Trier’s Zentropa Productions, where he started out directing short films and music videos, soon to become one of the most requested promo directors in his home country Denmark. Lasse naturally started directing commercials including films for clients ranging from Sony Ericsson to Red Cross, where his unique filmic voice combines strong emotional aesthetics with a rough and personal edge. His work with commercials, music videos, documentaries and fiction resulted in numerous awards and nominations at NMVA, UKMVA, Creative Circles and 1.4 Awards to name a few. Apart from directing Lasse has a broad musical background as a composer and producer
Marie Kristiansen

Marie Kristiansen

Marie was born in 1982 in Oslo, Norway and is curently based between Oslo and LA. She graduated with a BA (hons) in Fine Arts from Central St Martins in 2007.

Since then she has worked as a director, photographer and conseptual artist. With several art exhibitions behind her Maries aesthetics and sometimes playful take on female sexuality was discovered by the commercial world.

Her many fashion films and commercials have been screened on websites such as; SHOWstudio, Dazed Digital, i-D online, Purple TV, STYLE.COM, Wallpaper and AnOther magazine. They have been showcased at both London and Paris Fashion week and in exhibitions in Hong Kong and Spain's Balenciaga museum. Amongst her clients are Lucy In Disguise, La Senza , Phoebe English and ELLE. She has done numerous fashion editorials for magazines such as ELLE, STILETTO and Twenty 6 magazine.

In 2010 she directed and photographed her first feature film in LA, ‘EXTERIORS’. It was nominated for best debut feature at the Raindance film Festival in London. 

Joachim Trier

Joachim Trier

Born in Copenhagen in 1974, Joachim grew up in a filmmaking family and began shooting his first 8mm films at the age of five. He became a national skateboard champion in Norway before attending The European Film College in Denmark.

After film college, Joachim trained at the British National Film and Television School. He won acclaim with a number of prize-winning shorts and commercials such as PROCTER, a short about the unexpected footage found in a dead man's video camera - and his feature debut in 2006 with REPRISE received numerous international awards, including Best Director at Karlovy Vary and the Discovery Award at Toronto. Joachim was also named one of Variety's 10 Directors to Watch at Sundance. 

Joe Van Houtteghem

Joe Van Houtteghem

Joe studied at the animation department of the K.A.S.K. in Ghent. He began as an animation director of commercials after his studies and in 1999 he joined Koen Mortier to establish Czar in Brussels.

Joe's distinguished style and taste for the surreal has won him the CCB film director award for 2 consecutive years with his spot for Keytrade Bank in 2006 and his public announcement commercial "Smoking animals" in 2007.

In June 2009 Joe received a Silver Lion - and recently he finished the new image design of the culture TV station Arte. 

Koen Mortier

After completing his film studies at RITS in Brussels, Koen made several short films, the last of which, 'A Hard Day's Work', won several international prizes. In 1999 he established Czar in Brussels with fellow director Joe Vanhoutteghem.

Besides advertising Koen has made two feature films: ‘Ex Drummer’ (2007) and ‘22nd of May’ (2010). Both were selected for international festivals and won several prizes. Koen has worked for clients including Eneco, Jupiler, Leroy Merlin and TNT for whom he directed the ‘Push to add Drama’ viral campaign, earning him a Gold Lion amongst many other awards. 

Kristoffer Borgli

Kristoffer Borgli

A skateboard and a video camera dominated Kristoffer Borgli's Norwegian youth before he went on to film school.

His music videos have screened at festivals all over the world, earning him prices from the Canadian International Film Festival and the norwegian Grammy ("spellemann") to name a few.

Furthermore his short film collaboration with The Golden Filter is screening at this year's SXSW short film competition. Kristoffer's work has a combination of visual poetry and a daring story to tell.

Lieven van Baelen

Lieven Van Baelen's first step into advertising was as a telecine operator and he quickly became one of Belgium’s leading colour graders. The next step was working as a director of photography for a series of commercials and music videos. Occasionally he still works as a DOP on his own projects.

He started out with the production of his short feature film ‘The Thread’ in 1999 and went on to win several international awards for the direction of his early commercial for Dexia ‘Club Brugge’, including a Eurobest Award and a Gold CCB (Belgian Art Director’s Club). He kept on evolving in his work and has directed for major international brands such as Heineken, Grolsch, Canon, Coca-Cola, Nissan, Renault & Ikea.

Lionel Goldstein

Lionel Goldstein is the pseudonym for Belgian directing team Koen Mortier and Joe Vanhoutteghem, co-founders of Czar Brussels.

In 2001, Koen and Joe decided to have Lionel follow a path that was different from the directing careers that each of them had established individually. With the absurd, near documentary style that they adopt, Lionel almost immediately won international acclaim.

In 2002, 2003 and 2005, Lionel won Gold at the Cannes Lions festival for, respectively, the Frisk and XBOX campaigns for Wieden+Kennedy London and BBH London and the Axion ’Braille’ commercial for Duval Guillaume Brussels.

In November 2003 Lionel was awarded the BAFTA for Best Director, which is the highest achievement for a commercial director Helming spots for Axe, Nike and steering the launch campaign for the Nissan Qashqai, Lionel’s reel has grown to encompass a range of comedy styles that belie an insightful focus on character, tone and setting.

Martin has a strong and unapologetic visual style. He subtly bends the rules of classic photographic beauty by adding a touch of surrealism - to create imagery which lingers in the viewer’s mind long after. His delicate craftsmanship hides the firm grip he has on absolutely every detail in the picture.

Martin hails from Denmark where he graduated from the National Film School.

In 2007 he directed the 25min short ‘We Who Stayed Behind’ and the 45min ‘Young Man Falling’, the latter of which was selected for the Critics Week in Cannes. His commercial for IKEA won ‘Best Direction’ at the Creative Circle Awards in 2008 and he has since then won numerous awards including ‘Best Director’ at the 2009 MVA´s and several D&AD Pencils among other awards for his poetic and dynamic work. 

Henry Moore Selder

Henry Moore Selder

Coming from a background in the Swedish alternative music scene, Henry Moore Selder turned early to the film business and studied film theory at the Stockholm University and practical filmmaking at the Stockholm Film School.

Since graduating he has been crafting a career in commercial filmmaking. Starting out with music videos for bands like The Hives and Garbage, to name a few, and moving over to commercials first on his own and then joining forces with the directors collective StyleWar which together with Henry has gone on to become one of the world's top commercials directors, mainly working for international clients such as Mastercard, Nike, Audi, Renault, Mercedes, Pepsi etc. Henry has travelled extensively, shooting in LA, London New York; South africa as well as some of the most remote locations of the world and has a deep experience in working with local teams in places such as China, Thailand, South Africa, Dubai and Scandinavia. After almost ten successful years working with StyleWar Henry has decided to move on and return to his roots as a solo director.

Christian Holm-Glad

Christian Holm-Glad has a diverse background with education within web- and fashion design and business adventures with the net company Inspera and the online editing tool WeVideo. On top of that he has worked for the Norwegian center party, served in Telemarksbataljonen and performed in more than 500 opera shows.

Nowadays he's put his talent into directing tv, music videos and commercials.
