R/GA Appoints Barry Wacksman as New Global Chief Strategy Officer

R/GA confirmed that it has promoted a new global chief strategy officer and parted ways with its New York managing director of planning. This news marks the latest in a string of changes at the IPG agency this summer.

R/GA promoted veteran staffer Barry Wacksman to the role of global chief strategy officer in June. An agency spokesperson tells Adweek that "We are very happy to report that after 16 years as chief growth officer, Barry Wacksman has been named R/GA's global chief strategy officer." The spokesperson adds that the new CSO is "currently working with the strategy and planning teams across R/GA's global network to further evolve the discipline and ensure that it continues to meet the rapidly changing needs of our clients." IPG Mediabrands has announced the appointment of renowned media auditor, Charles Godbold, as global director, media intelligence systems. Godbold will take up the new and senior global position within Mediabrands based out of London.

The Barbarian Group Wins Kind Snacks, Promotes Pou to CCO

The Barbarian Group won marketing duties for Kind Snacks and announced a series of hires and promotions to solidify its new leadership team for the fall.

First, Edu Pou–who the agency poached from W+K Amsterdam last October–has been promoted from ECD to CCO. Chief executive Sophie Kelly tells us that the agency generally promotes new hires within six to eight months based on performance, and Pou “had an instrumental impact on the talent we’ve hired” in 2015 as well as helping the agency win new business pitches including Kind and Etihad Airways. Olivier Klönhammer joins 180 Amsterdam as Head of Integrated Production. Dutch-American Klönhammer has 18 years of experience in the creative industry, on both sides of the Atlantic, agency-side and in-house.
Prior he was Managing Director at Glassworks Amsterdam and also held production positions at Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam, Anomaly and Discovery Networks International. From 2013 to 2014 he worked as freelance producer at 180 on Playstation. In his new role he will be working across all of 180’s key clients to push the agency’s production work to the next level. FleishmanHillard's Guillaume Herbette Tapped as CEO of MSLGROUP

PARIS: Guillaume Herbette, global vice chairman of operations at FleishmanHillard, will take over the dual role of MSLGroup CEO and EVP of Publicis Worldwide next Monday.

He will succeed Olivier Fleurot as MSLGroup’s chief executive. Fleurot is stepping into an SVP role at Publicis Groupe. Herbette will report to Publicis Worldwide president Arthur Sadoun, who is taking on direct supervision of MSLGroup.

Maurice Levy, chairman and CEO of Publicis Groupe, said in June that the goal of Sadoun’s appointment was not merging MSLGroup and Publicis Worldwide, but rather creating "a new integrated approach." Read more at PRWeek.
