This Japanese guesthouse is truly moving

The traditional Japanese ryokan. Calm. Soothing. Hospitable. And full of shoes that move around by themselves. At least, that’s the impression created by Nissan, who in a previous stunt allowed chairs to tuck themselves under a meeting room desk. This time, visitors to a ryokan guesthouse are stunned as sandals tidy themselves into neat rows and cushions square up to a table as if pushed by invisible hands. In fact the phenomenon is a promotion for Nissan’s ProPilot “auto parking” technology. The combination of tradition and science fiction left guests beside themselves.
