A bag that swims against the tide

Some countries have already banned the plastic bags that are clogging our oceans, but quite a few haven’t got around to it yet. Malaysia is one such case, so supermarket Tesco took matters into its own…bags. Actually it launched a re-usable bag that no customer would ever leave at home. Why? Because it includes a barcode that – when scanned at the till – offers a discount of a few cents on your shopping each time you use it. A simple yet perfect design innovation. Talking of design, the graphics featuring endangered marine species are pretty attractive too. Needless to say, the initiative from Tesco and Grey Worldwide Kuala Lumpur has already bagged a few prizes.
