THE WARMER SIDE OF TECHNOLOGY WAS ON SHOW WITH INNOVATIONS THAT AIDED ACCESSIBILITY AND EVEN SAVED LIVES. PLUS, A JOYFUL FILM.

Rivals Microsoft and Apple duked it out at the top of the ranking with Microsoft grabbing the most awarded campaign for “Changing The Game”, by McCann New York, for the Xbox. The game changer? Making the device more accessible for kids with disabilities – and making a beautiful film about it.
Despite that, Apple was the most awarded brand in this sector because it had four ads in the top ten – starting at number two with “Bounce”, its jazzy, literally uplifting film. Apple’s success bounced TBWA\Media Arts Lab to the top of the most awarded agency list, too.
But this was not a game for just two players. Also in the top five were Tinder with the interactive adventure “Swipe Night” from 72andSunny, Samsung with “BACK2LIFE” from Cheil China – showing gamers a life-saving first aid technique – and finally Wavio’s “See Sound” device, from Area 23, which visually alerts the deaf to sounds in their homes. Further down the ranking, Amazon, Spotify and Facebook completed the list of tech superstars with multi-awarded campaigns.

Filosofia For Samsung’s 2019 Corporate Social Responsibility Project, Cheil launched a creative campaign to help young Chinese people acquire CPR skills: BACK2LIFE. In this campaign, Cheil cooperated with Blood River, which is one of China's most famous MOBA(Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) game platform, and hacked in this game to get gamers to learn life-saving CPR. In China, less than 1% know how to perform CPR*. The BACK2LIFE campaign, created jointly by Cheil PengTai and Cheil Worldwide Hong Kong, aimed to solve this problem. Even though it’s a matter of life-and-death, most people only realize the importance of CPR when they’re faced with death. On the other hand, China is the world's largest game market. Therefore, the virtual moment of death in the game can be the best time for young people to get CPR training. When gamers lost their lives in the game, they unexpectedly found out that CPR can revive their role. After several times of virtual deaths in the game, the game player repeatedly receives training for CPR. That means, the more they play, the more CPR training they get. During the two-week hijack in the Samsung Galaxy Store, over 3 million gamers performed CPR training to bring their characters back to life. This fun and easy way to learn CPR skills has effectively promoted the popularity of CPR in China.

In a ground-breaking partnership with one of the world’s leading travel publishers, we created ‘The Rough Guide to Xbox’ – the first travel guide for virtual worlds, enabling people to engage with games in a brand new way. The transformation was completed with a range of online and offline multi-channel activations that all made people perceive videogames as viable tourist destinations, and created added utility once the world could no longer travel.

So it partnered with Netflix, Aviation Gin, and the undisputed king of social, Ryan Reynolds, to create a social film, specifically created for the meta world of the internet: the world’s first ad-within-an ad-within-an-ad. The social film dropped on Twitter and was promptly retweeted by Ryan, Netflix and Aviation Gin, promptly blowing up the internet at large, and resulting in category-leading sales in the run up to Black Friday.

Trama On March 25th Hollywood descended on the Steve Jobs Theater for the announcement of Apple’s much-anticipated streaming service Apple TV+. 24 hours before, thousands of people were trolling the events page on apple.com looking for anything left unguarded. So Apple hid a link. If found, it appeared as if Apple had mistakenly turned the event livestream on early and you had gained access to the cameras inside the theater. The 24-hour ‘livestream’ contained cryptic vignettes meant to tease the shows, partnerships and celebrities that would be announced or appear at the event the following day.
