J. Walter Thompson Sydney and University of Technology Sydney (UTS) have teamed up to launch a mentorship program for students in the Bachelor of Creative Intelligence & Innovation (BCII) degree.
BCII winter school students will have the opportunity to gain insight and career advice from J. Walter Thompson Sydney’s senior management. The mentorship program aims to provide students with creative method and innovation insights that will help prepare them for careers in various creative industries.
“This is the latest chapter in our innovation program, with BCII opening up endless possibilities for both students and JWT mentors,” said Jenny Willits, Managing Director at J. Walter Thompson Sydney. “We are delighted to be teaching, mentoring and working with Australia’s next generation of creative thinkers.”
Dr. Bem Le Hunte, Course Director of the BCII program, said she is excited that students will be able to further explore their creative potential and the future of creativity through the mentorship program.
“The course is specifically designed to take students on a path of discovery and teach them outside of the traditional university context,” said Dr. Le Hunte, who emphasized how valuable the initiative will be for both students and J. Walter Thompson Sydney employees.
“Our collaboration with J. Walter Thompson ensures BCII students are exposed to some of the most creative innovators in the marketing industry and we look forward to working together to forge industry/university partnerships in keeping with the national innovation agenda.”
As part of the program the J. Walter Thompson Sydney’s team will mentor students on ‘The Future of Media,’ covering topics including:
With the variety of topics being offered to students, J. Walter Thompson Sydney’s Jenny Willits hopes that by giving students “a chance to put their ideation techniques, design thinking and creative intelligence methodologies to the test,” they will “witness some of the best creative thinkers of tomorrow.”
Students will also have the opportunity to respond to J. Walter Thompson Sydney’s brief on ‘The Future of Creative Advertising,’ offering a real experience in innovation and creative thinking.
This collaboration is the most recent initiative produced by J. Walter Thompson Sydney’s innovation program, which focuses on broadening the pioneering solutions it provides to clients’ brands and business problems.
